♥ Stallion shopping can be an overwhelming decision for a mare owner. When I started looking at Registered Irish Draught stallions for my lovely Registered Irish Draught mare, there were certain qualities that were important to me from the get go. After speaking with Pairadox Gold Coin's owner, Jess Walker, I felt like I was able to make the right choice for my mare. I wanted a stallion that fit into my mares weaknesses and strengths, a stallion with a pedigree that complimented my mares pedigree, and a stallion that was easily accessible with my schedule. Gabe offered a great hard color, bloodlines with performance horses, Irish Draught type, an uphill build, and substance with great hooves. Although Gabe has not had much of a performance career himself, I have no doubt that he carries all of the athletic ability and a temperment that is needed to be a successful performer. Passing an Irish Draught inspection is no easy feat, and knowing that outside inspectors felt that he was good enough to produce foals was very important to me. The foals he has produced seemed to have let the mare come through as well. I love my mare, and wanted a stallion that would allow her great traits to show up in the foal. Gabe was also very easy to schedule a collection with, when my mare was ready to breed, he was ready to collect. My maiden mare took on one cycle after I messed up and ordered a day too early. His collection quality was exceptional, and as a breeder that made the difference in not having to rebreed my mare. She was I foal after the first breeding. After the long wait, I could not be happier with the foal. My lovely mare had a big, healthy colt, that is correct, tall, and very true to the Irish Draught type. I see all of the strong traits in my mare in the foal, but Gabe added a huge hip, and a shorter back, with extra height and bone. He has a wonderful, bold attitude towards life, and is nice enough to be a stallion prospect. I hope other mare owners consider Gabe. He will prove himself through his foals, and as a mare owner I could not be happier with the cross he provided to my mare!
